Etape 5 - Volta Redonda, The Costa's meet again
This section will be boring for the
non family members and even for them we need to update our family tree so
that they will be able to follow who is who in the zoo…. We will do it
when we have some time to kill in this holidays.
The Brazilian branch of the Costa
family organised a weekend get together at Volta Redonda,
120 km south of Rio de Janeiro
where the majority of the family lives. Volta Redonda
is known as the City of Steel and home of the
largest steel mill in South America. Despite
the city being built in a heavy industrial area, Volta Redonda is surprisingly clean and
organised. We travelled from Guarujá on Thursday 30th
trying to avoid the long weekend rush. From São Paulo 1.6 million cars were
expected to travel to the south beaches from Guarujá to Angra dos
Reis. We met our cousin Luis in Mugi das Cruzes in the outskirts of São Paulo and travelled together to Volta Redonda. There we
were joined by my parents that travelled by bus from Pontal do Sul (600 km
south of Volta Redonda)
next day.
We had a memorable long weekend with
our relatives and the 64 photos in this section of the Blog try to give you
an idea of the fun it was.
