Tasmania,
the little (approximately the same area as Portugal) island in the south
of the Australian mainland, certainly has its fair share of winter snow.
Located on the parallel 40° south, Tasmania is the last large land mass
before Antarctica and some times things go wrong with the weather pattern
and the result can be seen in the pictures Rita took from her house when
she was forced to miss work because of road closures as snow fell to sea
level.
